Solar Charge Controller

A solar charge controller limits the rate at which charge is added to or drawn from electric batteries, protecting batteries against overcharging from solar panels as well as complete draining or ‘deep discharge’, which can reduce battery performance and lifespan or pose a safety risk.

A Solar Charge Controller is needed in virtually every solar power system that utilizes batteries. A basic charge controller simply monitors battery voltage and stops the charging when the battery voltage rises to a certain level. Modern charge controllers slowly lower the amount of power applied to the battery as it gets closer and closer to full charge.

The NEXTGEN Solar Charge Controller uses sophisticated PWM (pulse width modulation) technology to adjust charging rates, as the battery gets closer to full charge, allowing for uniform charging and improving battery performance and life.
